A third-person shooter set in a military sci-fi universe, *Gears of War 2* follows COG soldier Marcus Phoenix and Delta Squad as they battle the Locust Horde to prevent the destruction of human cities. The campaign can be played solo or cooperatively, with the second player controlling Marcus’ ally Dominic Santiago, while multiplayer introduces new competitive and cooperative modes. The game retains core third-person shooter mechanics, including its signature chainsaw-equipped assault rifle, and expands on existing modes with Horde, a survival-style challenge against escalating enemy waves.
