A fighting game released by SNK for the Neo Geo in 1997, *Real Bout Fatal Fury Special* is the sixth main entry in the *Fatal Fury* series and the second game in the *Real Bout* sub-series. It expands on the series' mechanics by reintroducing a two-level plane system and includes updated graphics, while featuring a roster of playable characters from the *Fatal Fury* universe. The game was later compiled in *Fatal Fury Battle Archives Vol. 2* for PlayStation 2 and re-released digitally for PlayStation 4 in 2017.
